You can now apply to the open call through which we will select 4 projects for individual shows, up to 40 images for a collective installation, and more to enrich the festival's 2023 program.

After last year's 9,000 visitors, the PhMuseum Days International Photo Festival is back for its third edition scheduled from 22 September to 1 October 2023 in Bologna, Italy. To become part of the main program of exhibitions you can apply to the festival's open call.

The theme of this edition is I Don't Know How To Respond To That, the answer that virtual assistants like Apple Siri give when they can't find a solution to our questions. The festival's program will explore the relationship between humans and machines, with a particular focus on the development of language in a broad sense. Through the works on display we will try to understand our relationship with technology and how our ways of communicating evolve in a world characterized by continuous innovations.

Apply with your visual projects to share your interpretation of this year's theme. All approaches are welcome, you can also insert links to videos or installation shots in your applications. Through this open call and thanks to the advisorship of last year's exhibiting artitsts Carla Liesching, Marcelo Brodsky, Sara Palmieri, the PhMuseum Team will select at least 4 projects for individual shows, up to 40 images for a collective installation, and up to 20 works for the projections. As an applicant you can claim your free daily pass to attend the festival.

The individual exhibition prize recipients will receive a production budget, plus an artist fee and another budget to cover travel and accommodation expenses and attend the main weekend on 22-24 September 2023. You can learn more and apply here, taking advantage of the early bird discount. We look forward to reviewing your applications and to welcoming you to Bologna.
