Fotofestiwal Open Call, Discovery Award Louis Roederer Foundation, Counter Histories Magnum Foundation Fellowship, Un/Fund, Boutographies Open Call, and FOTODOKS Open Call are among the opportunities we selected this month.

Fotofestiwal Open Call 2025 

Deadline 24 November / Entry fee €15

Fotofestiwal was established in 2001 as one of the first photography events in Poland. With no thematic, technique, or age limits, the call invites artists to submit up to two projects. Six selected authors will receive an exhibition during the festival in Łódź, a €400 artistic fee, accommodation for the main opening weekend of the festival, reimbursement of travel costs up to €300, and a €500 exhibition production budget. Plus, from the submitted projects, Fotofestiwal nominates at least one artist each year for the FUTURES program.

Jury is composed of Marta Szymańska (Co-Founder of Lodz Fotofestiwal), Femke Rotteveel (Director of FOTODOK), Giuseppe Oliverio (Founder and Director of PhMuseum), Krzysztof Candrowicz (Co-Founder of Lodz Fotofestiwal), Clare Grafik (Head of Exhibitions at The Photographers’ Gallery).

2025 Discovery Award Louis Roederer Foundation

The Rencontres d'Arles opened its call for applications for the 2025 Discovery Award, part of the festival's 56th edition. The award's aim is to promote the work of the selected artists, who will be showcased in the Discovery Award exhibition. Organizations (gallery, art center, community space, independent exhibition site, institution) may present, in the form of an exhibition proposal, a single artist (or a single artists' collective working as a single artistic entity).

Projects selected for exhibition in the 2025 edition of the Rencontres d'Arles will be accompanied by the festival team and the invited exhibition curator César González-Aguirre. During opening week, a jury selected by the festival will determine the jury award, which rewards an artist and the artist's supporting organization with an acquisition of artworks in the amount of €15,000. In addition, festival visitors will determine the public award, which rewards an artist and the artist's supporting organization with an acquisition of artworks in the amount of €5,000.

2025 Counter Histories Magnum Foundation Fellowship

Magnum Foundation is calling for proposals from photographers who would like to expand and complete an existing project that responds to the theme of Counter Histories and who are excited to contribute to a creative community of fellows. Up to ten selected participants will receive a grant of $10,000 (€9,200), take part in an eight-month virtual project development fellowship, and connect with collaborative partners and networks. The program includes guest presentations, working groups, community-building sessions, curatorial advising, and project feedback from mentors and peers. In addition to the project development grants, each grantee will receive discretionary funds up to $1,000 (€920) that can be used for individual sessions with mentors and creative collaborations among fellows.

Un/Fund 2024

Open to international visual artists that have under 5 years of industry experience, Un/Fund is excited to launch the second edition with €50,000 worth of grants available. Winners receive an award of up to €10,000 per submission to help release a project, including production support, financial guidance, press and exhibition. Jury is composed of Runa Anzai (Director and Creative Producer at Kontakt), Giorgia Basch (Creative Director, Curator, Publisher, Critic), Abdul Kircher (Artist) and Paul Kooiker (Photographer).

Boutographies Open Call 2025

Deadline 24 November / Entry fee €23

Dedicated to new European photography, Les Boutographies is a festival founded in 2001 in the Boutonnet district of Montpellier. All amateur or professional photographers from Europe or resident in Europe are welcome to apply, with no limits regarding age or nationality. One selected artist will receive the Jury Prize consisting of a €1,000 cash prize, plus the purchase to the value of €2,500, of one or more prints by the Town of Montpellier for its permanent collection. Plus, the Public Prize will award €500 towards the production of an exhibition, along with the support by the magazine La Gazette de Montpellier. In addition, several other prizes will be awarded, such as the Photon Prize that includes the production of an exhibition for three months at Toulouse's Photon laboratory.

FOTODOKS Open Call 2025

Deadline 15 November / No entry fee

Taking place every two years in Munich, FOTODOKS is an international festival for contemporary documentary photography that has established itself as the largest festival of its kind in Germany. In 2025, the festival will be back with a group exhibition and a four-day accompanying program. Taking as its overarching theme the term Feedback, it invites professional lens-based artists and photographers, regardless of their geographical location, to submit work that resonates with the thought-provoking focus of its forthcoming festival edition. Selected photographers will receive a €500 artist fee for single artists/photographers, €800 for duos and up to €1,200 for collectives, depending on the amount of members. They also receive a travel budget to and from Munich, as well as accommodation to be part of the festival’s 4-day opening week. The selection committee is composed by Dominik Gigler, Francesco Giordano, Frank Bauer, Katrin Bauer, Nadine Loës and Sandra Singh.

Gomma Photography Grant 2024 / Deadline 7 November / Entry fee €29

This year in its 11th edition, the Gomma Grant is looking for photographers who investigate their surroundings and their everyday routines and unveil the underlying poetry, drama, and beauty of it. Prizes include $1,000 (first prize), $200 (second prize), $100 (third prize) in cash, in addition to a potential publishing deal with Gomma Publishing Ltd and its network. Plus, photographers will be selected for honorable mentions as best documentary, best black and white, and Gomma new flavour.

Revela't 2025 Open Call / Deadline 10 November / Entry fee €20

Revela’t is a month-long celebration centered around analog or chemical photography, featuring exhibitions, markets, workshops, portfolio reviews, and many other activities. The call for exhibition aims to select three projects, delving into the theme of Identity, to be exhibited at the next edition of the Revela't Festival in Vilassar de Dalt, Spain, during May and June 2025.

The Chico Review - Photobook Retreat and Publishing Prize 2025 / Deadline 24 November / Entry fee €55 - 65

Organized by Charcoal Book Club, the Chico Review is the Photobook Retreat takes place over six nights at Chico Hot Springs Resort, in the State of Montana, United States. Sixty-four applicants will be selected by the jury and invited to spend the week with over twenty photography experts, including bookmakers, photographers, gallerists, museum curators, and photobook publishers. One full tuition scholarship ($4,850) and five partial tuition scholarships ($1,500) to the Chico Review will be awarded to six accepted attendees. At the end of the event, one grand prize recipient will be awarded the Charcoal Publishing Prize. The winning project will be published and distributed worldwide by Charcoal Book Club, the first book-of-the-month club dedicated exclusively to photobooks. The selection jury is composed of Martin Amis (Photobookstore), Ahndraya Parlato (Photographer), Joāo Linneu (VOID) and Miwa Susuda (Session Press).

Angkor Photo Festival 2024/25 Open Call / Deadline 17 November / No entry fee

The Angkor Photo Festival invites photographers from all over the world to share their projects for inclusion in the 20th Edition’s festival program, which will be held from 7 – 16 February 2025 in Siem Reap, Cambodia. With no restrictions on theme or genre, they seek work that reveals, informs, or evokes, giving a deeper understanding of the individual and collective existence.
