Yeast Photo Festival 2026

The fifth edition of the Yeast Photo Festival runs across the Salento region of Southern Italy.

Overview

Organized by the associations BESAFE and On The Move under the artistic direction of Edda Fahrenhorst alongside co-directors Veronica Nicolardi and Flavio & Frank, the international festival uses food culture as a visual and social metaphor to examine pressing global issues. This year’s theme, A Matter of Taste, investigates the intersections of food, identity, consumption, and sustainability through contemporary visual art and photographic storytelling.

Set across historic sites – including the Palazzo dei Marchesi del Tufo in Galatina as well as venues throughout Lecce’s historic center – the festival features an array of exhibitions, site-specific installations, artist talks, portfolio reviews, and creative residencies. By partnering with international events such as Germany's Fotofestival Horizonte Zingst and Switzerland's Fotofestival Lenzburg, Yeast Photo Festival continues to strengthen Salento's position as a dynamic Mediterranean platform for contemporary image-making and cultural exchange.
