SEEEU 2025 is presenting contemporary European photographers in Tokyo public spaces. More than 200 artworks by 10 authors will be presented to Japanese audiences.
Overview
European photography is relatively unknown to Japan: Europe offers an exquisite variety of creative forces. Likewise, the Japanese photographic community seeks for more connections with the world.
Curated by Mutsuko Ota and Kim Boske, with Sergej Grigorjev as a festival producer, the festival aims to foster connections between European and Japanese art communities and bring unique content to Japanese audiences. SEEEU aims to connect artistic communities, giving new professional opportunities and striving to make this festival valuable to Japanese professionals, too. Through networking, portfolio reviews, studio and institutional visits, connecting both parts of the world.
Exhibitions and events are free and in public spaces, bringing art to people: on construction site walls, in subway and train stations, in Embassies and culture institutes, cafes and galleries. The lineup is composed of 10 international artists, including Taiyo Onorato and Nico Krebs (Switzerland), Claudia Fuggetti (Italy), Francisco Gonzalez Camacho (Spain), Tamara Janes (Switzerland), Tadao Cern (Lithuania), Igor Schiller (Serbia), Christina Werner (Austria), Varvara Uhlik (Ukraine), and Anna Tihanyi (Hungary).
