SCAN Tarragona Festival 2026

The upcoming 13th edition of SCAN Tarragona International Photography Festival, with a theme of Metamorphosis, offers the public a transversal and inclusive program of exhibitions, screenings, conferences, and workshops.

Overview

SCAN Tarragona is an international photography festival that has been dedicated to supporting, promoting, and presenting the work of emerging artists since 2008. Its programme includes initiatives such as the international exhibition Talent Latent, portfolio reviews, a podcast, the artist publication Bloc, exhibitions devoted to subjects like Mediterranean cultures, and presentations of national artists at the Mèdol, and the SCAN Actiu programme, fostering participatory photographic practices and engaging neighbourhoods and underrepresented communities.

The festival also has the invaluable collaboration of the Provincial Council of Tarragona, the Port of Tarragona, the University Rovira i Virgili (URV), and a wide network of institutions and local public and private entities.

SCAN stubbornly pushes photography and it’s hybridization with other disciplines, with the aim of exploring new forms of expression in a field that is unattainable and infinite, that of art; photographers and public are peremptorily invoked to encourage and welcome a visual culture that perpetuates itself, above all, as a plural space open to everyone from where both the most transgressive imagination and critical reflection are stimulated.
