Oslo Negativ transforms the historic National Gallery in Oslo into a vibrant space for photography, bringing together more than 40 exhibitions, talks, screenings, and events featuring around 200 photographers.

Overview

Oslo Negativ brings together documentary and artistic photography, creating a space for exhibitions, conversations, and encounters around the photographic medium. For its sixth edition, the festival returns to the historic National Gallery in Oslo, bringing life and images back into the building several years after it was emptied of art.

Over three weekends in October, visitors can explore more than 40 exhibitions featuring around 200 photographers from Norway and abroad. Occupying large parts of the basement, first, and second floors, the festival allows visitors to revisit iconic galleries and discover previously unknown rooms that were once closed to the public.

Alongside exhibitions, Oslo Negativ presents a diverse programme of artist talks, lectures, film screenings, workshops, and events. The festival creates a platform for exchange between photographers, professionals, and audiences, celebrating photography in its many forms, from documentary and reportage to artistic and experimental practices.

Oslo Negativ is organized by Stiftelsen Oslo Negativ, a collaboration between Preus Museum, Møllersamlingen, and Oslo’s photography community, with the aim of strengthening interest in photography and creating a shared space for learning, discussion, and inspiration.
