Every year, FIFV introduces a thematic thread that weaves through all festival activities and exhibitions. In 2023, the program raises the question: What is the edge of your gaze?
Overview
The Valparaiso International Photography Festival boasts a distinctive format. Part of the works featured in the exhibitions is created during the festival, transforming it into a collaborative creative journey closely connected to its host territory, Valparaiso, Chile. Through an open call, photographers are invited to team up in groups of 3 to 5, developing projects in collaboration with other teams throughout the city in response to the festival's theme. At the end of the festival, these collectives present the results to the communities they engaged with.
Furthermore, in its 14th edition, FIFV offers a free program that includes talks, book presentations, portfolio reviews, exhibitions, and workshops featuring international authors like Anne Rearick, Julieta Escardó, Klavdij Sluban, Brigitte Grignet, Nicolás Wormull, and Leonora Vicuña.
