The festival aims to offer the possibility of showing the work done by photographers who wish to do so for a period of time in different spaces in Torroella de Montgrí and surrounding towns.

Overview

This 9th edition of the Mirades Festival takes place in different towns of the Baix Empordà: Torroella de Montgrí, La Bisbal d'Empordà, Palafrugell and now Figueres, hosting the works of artists chosen through public call with the aim of opening to social debate the perspectives of contemporary photography.

The Mirades 2025 Festival generates a display of forms that emerge from the traditional photographic framework to expand material possibilities and even bets, for the first time, on bringing photography to the street, maximizing the volume of view of each of the stories. The contemporary narrative of today's world urges us to turn back to remember, at the same time, that imagination will reveal new possibilities of what is to come, what will be shown to us thanks to time.

Time, which is revealed in photography as one of its primary working tools, is explored in this edition as a cycle, as a non-linear structure that brings us closer to today's complex world, offering us ways to unravel it: Coming from Kyiv, Berlin, Paris, Pisa, Lugo, Madrid, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Tudela, Valencia, Barcelona and Girona, 15 international and transgenerational views show the need to understand the world from the image and from the collective story.

Exhibited artists include Cyprien Clément-Delmas, Andrés Solla, Spasi Sohrani, Sergio Belinchón, Manuela Lorente, Jesus Visauta, Jonàs Forchini, Gael del rio and Luca Bani, Vicente Sáez, Pascual Martínez, Águeda Martínez Rojo, Catara Rego, Alba Ruiz, Ignacio Navas, Usue Belandia, Lorena Ruiz, and Pau de la Calle Argelés.
