Charta is a contemporary photography festival that aims to promote photo-books and independent publishing.

Overview

The theme of this edition of Charta Photo-book Festival is Human x Nature, intended as a reflection on the complex relationship that has always existed between us and nature. Throughout time, human beings have tried to contemplate or dominate it, to understand it or enslave it. Magic, religion, science are only attempts to decipher what surrounds us, to survive the world and ourselves. Nature is a wounded but ever-present mother, who continues to assist us, even if she is now exhausted by our resistance.

The one hundred books on display in the expo will therefore deepen and decline this concept, opening up a structured reflection on how this fragile synergy has evolved over time. Each expo will also host video and sound installations that return the suggestion of the theme. In addition, the festival spaces are inhabited by Wildness, a diffuse exhibition that accompanies visitors in their exploration.

Also on the circuit will be the screening of the Charta Award shortlist, the Hong Kong Dummy Award exhibition, and a Talk Gallery dedicated to the most interesting editorial productions of recent years.

Completing the program will be a schedule of Portfolio Reviews and a Book Market featuring some of the most important publishing companies.
