Presented at the Museum of Photography in Kraków, In Common. 20 Years of Sputnik Photos Collective is not a traditional retrospective, but a reflection on photography as a collaborative and socially engaged practice.

The exhibition brings together key projects from the collective’s 20-year history, showing how photography can become a space for encounters and exchange — between photographers, the people they photograph, and the communities involved in the creative process. Through this perspective, the exhibition also traces the social and political transformations of Central and Eastern Europe.

Founded in 2006, Sputnik Photos emerged from a shared interest in exploring the realities of a region still shaped by the aftermath of the Cold War. Over the years, the collective has developed different forms of collaboration, expanding its practice through partnerships with photographers, curators, and communities.

Featuring works by the current members Jan Brykczyński, Karolina Gembara, Michał Łuczak, Rafał Milach, Adam Pańczuk, and Agnieszka Rayss, with project coordination by Marzena Michałek-Dąbrowska, In Common. 20 Years of Sputnik Photos Collective presents photography as a collective practice built on dialogue, attention, and shared responsibility.
