Verzasca Foto has announced a new open call, offering participants the chance to win 2,000 Swiss francs, a solo exhibition in the main festival program, as well as board and lodging for the duration of the festival.
Overview
Verzasca Foto Festival aims to promote emerging international photographers and to support visual arts in rural and peripheral areas, by giving them the freedom to express themselves through the connection to and dialogue with nature. Their goal is to promote an outstanding project and to showcase it in the events lineup of the festival in a solo exhibition.
Practical Info
Verzasca Foto Festival is looking for submissions of photographic projects (digital, analogue, or mixed) composed of a selection of 3-10 images. Projects should be accompanied by a title and a short project description/artist statement.
The winner will be awarded: 2,000 Swiss Francs + Solo Exhibition + Board and Lodging in Ticino during the Verzasca Foto Festival held on 30 August - 1 September. Finalists from 2nd to 10th place will receive an invitation to the Night of Photography event, plus board and lodging in Ticino during the Verzasca Foto Festival. All finalists and winners are further promoted on the official Festival online platforms.
The jury is composed of Urs Stahel (Writer, Curator, Lecturer and Consultant), Katerina Radchenko (Director of Odesa Photo Days, Curator, Artist, Photography Researcher), Ben Harman (Curator and Director of Stills), Giuseppe Oliverio (Founder and Director of PHmuseum), Julie Bonzon (Art Historian, Photography Curator and Writer, Founder of The Photographic Collective), Alfio Tommasini (Photographer, Curator and Art director of Verzasca Foto Festival).

The valley, with its small villages of stone houses and with its dense, lush nature, sets the backdrop to the curation of our annual photographic exhibition and festival: an intimate meeting place where participants have the opportunity to share ideas, points of view, and their camera-based practices.
