The Stanley Greene Foundation Emerging Photographers Grant 2027

The Stanley Greene Foundation Emerging Photographer Grant awards $10,000 to early-career visual storytellers, supporting the development of documentary projects with strong narrative, humanistic, and socially engaged perspectives.

Overview

The Emerging Photographer Grant supports early-career visual storytellers developing documentary projects with strong narrative intent. It prioritizes photographers from underserved and diverse communities and aims to expand access to resources within the field of photojournalism. The program encourages long-form, humanistic storytelling that is journalistically grounded and visually driven, with an emphasis on clarity, depth, and contemporary relevance.

Practical Info

Applicants must be 18 years or older. Students are not eligible. Individual and collaborative applications are accepted, but each applicant may submit only one project. Submissions include a biography, a project description, a detailed project proposal outlining the use of funds, and up to 25 images. AI-generated imagery is not permitted.

The grant provides a total of USD $10,000, with $8,000 awarded upon selection and $2,000 upon completion, including the delivery of fifteen final images and a project report.

Selection is carried out in two stages by a three-member jury of the Stanley Greene Foundation Board. The jury will meet twice. At the first meeting they will review the submitted materials, including applications, proposals and photographs. They will select finalists based on the merits of the submissions. Finalists will have a short period of time to refine their proposals and respond to questions from the jury. At the second meeting, the jury will re-visit the proposals, review new material, and make a final selection.
