Tall Poppy Press Open Call 2026

The Tall Poppy Press invites innovative proposals from artists and photographers living/working in Australia, or work with a connection to Australia, to be published in 2027/2028.

Overview

The Tall Poppy Press Open Call for 2026 is an initiative aimed at funding and publishing two new photographic or visual art books for release in 2027 or 2028. The first awarded project will be published with a budget of $10,000, while a second project will receive a $5,000 budget. Tall Poppy Press emphasizes a partnership-based approach, offering selected artists their full dedication to design, printing, and global distribution through international book fairs and established retail stockists.

Practical Info

Artists need to share the work they would like to publish (any visual art medium/combination of mediums, as well as curatorial, and archival projects are welcome), in addition to a clear reason why they would like to make a book and why with Tall Poppy Press. The press maintains a firm policy that no late submissions will be accepted under any circumstances. A unique feature of this call is the commitment that every single person who submits work will receive personal feedback via email.

The jury and editorial team are led by the founders of Tall Poppy Press, Matt Dunne and Morganna Magee, who handle the review process and the subsequent feedback for all entrants.

About Tall Poppy Press

Tall Poppy Press is a Melbourne-based publisher of photography books, workshops and merch. Their aim is to publish excellent Australian photography, or collaborations between Australian and non-Australian artists. At Tall Poppy, we believe in emerging artists, financially fair models of publishing and making books somewhere between a coffee table tome and a zine. We like imperfection, texture and things that feel joyful. Founded in 2021, TPP is run by Matt Dunne and Morganna Magee.
