R2I is looking for 5 photographers to join the list of 10 who will participate in R2I 2024 Residency Program from August to September 2024 in Ithaca, Greece. The 2024 theme is Somewhere Called Home.

Overview

Return2Ithaca is an artist residency program that gives space to Greek and International photographers to be together on the island for 22 days producing personal work, as well as meeting with acclaimed curators to review their projects. Through in-depth acquaintance with the island, its history, the concepts, and the universal messages that gush from the Odyssey, the artists will produce their personal work. Ithaca offers an opportunity for the presentation of photographic works of known artists from all parts of the world, for discussing and exchanging views on social, environmental, racial, and everyday issues that concern photography and arts today. A lively space that combines team interaction and work, with personal moments of relaxation and search for new expressive routes.

Practical Info

The application consists of up to 2 Portfolios with 8-12 photographs each of a specific theme, an artist statement for each of the submitted portfolios, and a short CV of the applicant.

Selected artists will be granted accommodation, lectures on the Odyssey and the history of Ithaca, organized tours on the island's paths with local guides, workshops, and discussions with the curators evolving the initial idea of the depiction of Odyssey.

At the end of the residency, a presentation of the produced works (as installations, exhibitions, or projections) will be organized by R2I’s team.
