Each year, the museum finances the creations of three winners, selected based on an original project, consistent with their artistic trajectory.
Overview
Since its launch in 2008, the Prix pour la Photographie du musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac has championed the development of contemporary photographic art by supporting three artists, whose works subsequently become part of the museum's collection.
The award is aimed at non-European photographic artists, or European citizens resident in overseas countries and territories and the outermost regions. Each laureate will receive a grant of €30,000 nets to complete the submitted project.
Practical Info
Submissions should contain a summary of the project, a note of intent describing the project, a biography of the photographer, a digital portfolio illustrating previous works and, whenever possible, visual elements illustrating the proposed project. A selection of printed visuals is appreciated to support the application in the eyes of the jurors during the selection committees. Applications must be submitted by postmail only before March 11th, 2024 (postmarked by the deadline date).
About musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac
Simultaneously a museum, a cultural center, and a place for research and teaching, the musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac was born from the political desire to highlight non-European cultures, in the heart of Paris. The museum gathers a collection of 370,000 objects, a considerable collection of graphic art, and a collection of more than 710,000 ancient and contemporary photographic pieces. The photography collections cover the whole geographic area represented by the museum and the entire historical field of the medium, from 1842 to today.
