An opportunity for Australian photographers to undertake an architectural photography commission that aims to develop new perspectives on Australian architecture and the built environment.

Overview

Powerhouse Photography is an annual program dedicated to amplifying Australian photography and lens-based practice through programs, commissions, acquisitions, publications and learning. Powerhouse Photography is supported by funds generously donated by the Australian Centre for Photography.

Powerhouse welcomes EOIs from both emerging and established photographers working across all fields of practice. Applications are sought from photographers with experience producing architectural photographs and/or lens-based architectural projects with a focus on construction, urban development, housing, infrastructure and sustainability.

Practical Info

Applicants should demonstrate they can undertake a major commission from concept to delivery. The EOI application must include a CV, 5–6 examples of photographic work, and a statement of interest (up to 500 words) answering the following questions: What type of architectural photography or lens-based project would you like to collaborate on with Powerhouse? How will your unique approach bring a new perspective to Australian architecture and the built environment?

Selected photographers will be engaged to develop and deliver the commission in collaboration with Powerhouse. The evaluation process may include interviews and assessments as required. The shortlisted applicants will be given a project briefing and required to develop a detailed scope of work with Powerhouse. Once an assessment is complete and the scope is agreed, a successful candidate will be awarded a contract for the project’s delivery.

The commission will be produced over a period of up to 12 months. The terms of the commitment will be flexible to accommodate the photographer’s continued professional practice.
