For the third year, PhEST launches its international Pop-Up Open Call connected the theme of the 2023 edition, BEING HUMAN. PhEST is looking for image based art exploring all aspects of humanity. All media is welcome: still and moving, collage, illustration, photography and animation. The open call is free and open to all.

Practical Info

Submissions should be sent online and include project title, a brief description of the work in English and a mini biography in English. If you apply for the SERIES category (still images, illustrations, etc), you must send a minimum of 10 - maximum 20 images. If you submit a video or animation (or any moving image file) select the SINGLES category. You will need to include the Vimeo or Youtube link in the relevant field.

Nine prizes will be awarded by the international jury, including exhibitions at the 2023 edition, equipments and workshops. A publication in the PhMuseum platform is also among the prizes.

Rocco Venezia, curator at PhMuseum, is one of the jury members, which also includes Maurizio Beucci, Head of Leica Akademie Italy; Jim Casper, Co-founder Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of LensCulture; Arianna Rinaldo, Curator of photography at PhEST and Giovanni Troilo, Artistic director of PhEST.

About PhEST - See Beyond the Sea

PhEST is photography, cinema, music, art, contaminations from the Mediterranean. The festival is born in 2016, out of the need to give back a voice to the thousand identities that form the “sea within the lands”, the need to redefine a new, original imagery.
