An Italian photographer will be invited by the IIC Prague and MUFOCO to undertake an art residency in Prague, Czech Republic, receiving a total fee of €5,000 to cover travel and production costs.

Overview

The IIC Prague - Italian Cultural Institute in Prague, in collaboration with MUFOCO - Museum of Contemporary Photography is promoting through open call an artist residency for the realization of a visual arts project. Metamorphosis aims to stimulate reflection on the transformations of artistic practices and the cultural contexts in which they originate and develop. The content of the research is intended to be open and free, both as themes addressed and in terms of language, except for a desirable connection with the nature of the proposing institutions and the host territory.

The residency will take place at the IIC Prague guesthouse during autumn 2025. The residency will consist of an initial week of meetings, site visits and in-depth discussions, and a subsequent period of work implementation. At the end of the residency - whose total duration is a minimum of three weeks and a maximum of four weeks - a public presentation of the research conducted is planned.

Practical Info

The call is open to photographers and visual artists of Italian nationality, with no age restrictions. Applicants must submit the completed and signed application form, the copy of a valid ID, a signed summary CV and portfolio, in-depth presentation of one project already carried out, a motivation letter, which can also foreshadow the research they intend to carry out during the residency, and the completed and signed 'Information and Data Processing Consent' form, which can be downloaded from the open call webpage.

The total fee for the residency is €5,000 and includes the artist fee, all expenses for travel and travel necessary to reach the residency and possibly necessary for the conduct of the research, expenses related to food for the entire residency period at the guesthouse of the IIC Prague, expenses for the production of the work intended for the client, including any delivery costs, and any other possible activities involving the artist (or artists in the case of a collective) during the residency period.

The public presentation of the research carried out, will take place at the end of the residency period, on a date and in a manner to be agreed upon with the IIC Prague. The residency will not result in the creation of an exhibition. The artist will be required to produce and deliver a work created as part of the residency, in the form of an Artist's Proof, intended for the IIC Prague's nascent collection.
