An Italian photographer will be invited by the IIC Prague and MUNAF to undertake an art residency in Prague, Czech Republic, receiving a total fee of €5,000 to cover travel and production costs.

Overview

The Italian Cultural Institute in Prague, in collaboration with MUNAF – National Museum of Photography, is launching an open call for an artist residency to develop a visual arts project.

Metamorphosis aims to stimulate reflection on the concept of change and transformation, with reference to both artistic practices and the cultural contexts in which they originate and develop. The scope of the research is open and unrestricted in terms of both themes and mediums, though a connection with the nature of the promoting institutions and the host territory is highly encouraged.

The residency will take place at the guest house of the IIC Prague during a period to be agreed upon between autumn 2026 and spring 2027. The residency will be structured in two parts: an initial planning phase (dedicated to meetings with the contracting authority, site visits, and narrowing down the project focus), followed by a second phase dedicated to the execution of the work. At the conclusion of the residency – the total duration of which will range from a minimum of three weeks to a maximum of four weeks – a public presentation of the research conducted will take place.

Practical Info

The call is open to Italian artists, with no age restrictions. Applicants must submit the requested documents via email, including the application form, a valid ID or passport, a concise, signed CV and portfolio, a detailed presentation of one completed project, a motivation letter, which may also outline the research project intended to be carried out during the residency, and the privacy policy and consent to data processing form.

The total grant for the residency is €5,000 net and covers the artist's fee, all travel expenses to and from the residency, as well as any travel required for research purposes, all meals/subsistence costs for the entire stay at the IIC Prague guest house, production costs for the artwork to be delivered to the organizers, including shipping or delivery fees, and any other activities the artist may be involved in during the residency.
