Overview
The Marco Pesaresi Award for Contemporary Photography honours the legacy of Italian photographer Marco Pesaresi and supports innovative, concept-driven photographic research. Organised by the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone in partnership with the Municipality of Rimini and Savignano Immagini, the award is open to photographers worldwide.
Submitted works should present an original photographic research project, either as a developing body of work or as a project plan that can be completed through the award funding. The prize recipient will receive €5,000 to support the development of their project. The completed work will be presented as an exhibition at SI FEST 2027 in Savignano sul Rubicone.
Practical Info
The competition is open to photographers worldwide. Applicants must submit a portfolio of up to 20 images, ideally focused on a single theme, together with a project outline and a short artistic biography. Projects must be unpublished or show a significant development of existing work. Previously completed exhibitions or monographs are not eligible. AI-generated images are accepted only if explicitly declared. The prize recipient will be announced during the opening weekend of the 35th edition of SI FEST in September 2026. The selected photographer will collaborate with Savignano Immagini on the completion and exhibition of the project at SI FEST 2027.
About the Award
Founded in honour of Marco Pesaresi, the award is organised by the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone in collaboration with the Municipality of Rimini and cultural association Savignano Immagini. Reaching its 25th edition, the prize aims to support contemporary photographic practices and encourage innovative approaches to documentary photography, visual research, and image-based storytelling.
