Lumínic is presented as the first photography festival in Sant Cugat del Vallès. Create a unique visual experience, bursting into the city to study the photographic event from new perspectives and flooding public spaces.

Overview

In a week of openness and two months of tour, a complete program dedicated to the photography of author is exhibited, that has exhibitions, talks, workshops and round tables generating an innovative experience. With a new thread every year the festival aims to be a point of reference for contemporary photography and a transforming experience for visitors. Lumínic is considered an inclusive and participatory event. A space for knowledge and photographic dissemination, where visitors can enjoy consecrated and emerging authors, both national and international.

Under this edition's theme Photographic Unconscious, the festival invites those projects that work with photography in this liminal space between the conscious and the unconscious, between documentation and the mirage or a dream. Projects that use photography to expand the notion of life, specifically human life, confront what is explained about existence. Projects that can face this issue literally or others working from the subtle that stir up unnoticed.

Practical Info

Each author and collective must submit between 10-15 photographs, a brief biography of the author and contact details, a brief explanation of the project/statement, and a brief explanation of whether the work is unpublished or, if not, what its journey has been (places and dates of exhibition or publication in the case of printed media). Projects will be accepted in any technique, method and materialization as long as they can be included in the photographic visual art.

The selected project will be awarded an individual exhibition at Lumínic Festival in the 2024 edition. Lumínic will be responsible for the production of the work for a maximum amount of € 500 or, if this is already produced, with the remuneration of € 500 in fees (taxes included in both cases). The number of pieces to be exhibited, the production material and the location of the exhibition will be determined, depending on the characteristics of the project itself and the availability of spaces, always in dialogue between the organization of Lumínic and the author or collective of the work. For the assembly of the work, in the event that the author or collective are unable to attend, they are responsible for sending the necessary documentation to carry it out properly. All expenses arising from the exhibition such as assembly, disassembly, claims, posters, communication actions and dissemination of the exhibition will be fully borne by the organization of Lumínic Festival.

Ten access awards will be given with two different exhibition formats. The first consists of the projection of the project during the opening of the exhibition of the winner of the call, sharing the works among all the prize winners and creating an artistic community. The second option is optional for the artist and involves participating in a group exhibition in Blanca gallery in Sant Cugat del Vallès, forming part of the Luminic Festival exhibition circuit with the contribution of a work produced by the artist.
