Hasselblad Foundation Fotosalongen 2027

Fotosalongen invites photographers of all backgrounds to take part in Sweden’s largest photo salon, bringing a broad spectrum of contemporary photography to the Hasselblad Center.

Overview

The Hasselblad Foundation invites both amateur and professional photographers across all genres to submit their work. Their objective is to curate an exhibition that showcases a diverse array of photographic styles and perspectives. The walls of the Hasselblad Center will be adorned with works that offer unexpected encounters and surprises, where the creations of established artists will be displayed alongside those of emerging talents and seasoned photographers who have yet to present their work publicly.

This photo salon seeks to represent the full spectrum of contemporary photography, embracing practitioners whose interests span documentary and photojournalism, as well as nature, family, street style, science, politics, and the arts. Selection will not be confined to a specific theme; rather, it will focus on identifying compelling images and narratives that resonate with depth and diversity of expression. The Hasselblad Foundation's goal is to capture a comprehensive snapshot of current photographic practices.

Practical Info

Photographers can submit one project with up to 5 images. With no set theme, the open call seeks images and narratives that reflect the diversity of contemporary photography. Still photography and installations without electronic equipment are eligible.

Selected photographers receive SEK 3,200 and their works will be exhibited at the Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg in summer 2027, bringing established artists together with emerging talents and photographers. Additionally, a number of works will also be acquired for the Hasselblad Foundation’s permanent collection.

The selection process will be conducted by a jury comprising Alexandra Ellis, curator at the Sune Jonsson Center for Documentary Photography, Västerbottens museum; Tarik Saleh, film director; Elisabeth Toll, photographer; and Dragana Vujanovic Östlind, Jury Chair and Chief Curator at the Hasselblad Foundation.
