Now in its third edition, in partnership with LensCulture, the award is part of the constant search for original and innovative narratives that has always characterised Cortona On The Move.

Overview

The open call for entries is thematically open and welcomes projects in development or unpublished, with the most varied photographic approaches to the contemporary: new perspectives and new visions. The 10 finalists will be presented during the opening of Cortona On The Move 2024. Among them, one author will receive the €3,000 prize and the opportunity to exhibit the project at the next edition of the festival, and two other selected authors will have their work published on the LensCulture website.

Practical Info

The open call is open to both photographers and collectives, and proposals must include between 10 and 20 images related to the project, a project title, a presentation of the proposal in English and image captions if applicable, and a biography in English (a short biography, not a curriculum vitae).

Finalist projects will be announced and published on the Cortona On The Move and LensCulture websites on 30 June 2024, and screened in Cortona during the opening days of the festival.

Among them one project will receive a €3,000 prize and the opportunity to be exhibited at the next edition of Cortona On The Move. In addition, two projects will be published on the LensCulture website during 2024. The three selected works will be announced and published on the Cortona On The Move and LensCulture websites and social channels on 13 July 2024.

The jury is composed by Jim Casper (Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder of LensCulture), Federica Chiocchetti (Director Mbal – Musée des Beaux Arts de Locle), Kublaiklan (Photography Curator Cortona On The Move), Veronica Nicolardi (Director of Cortona On The Move), Laura Sackett (Creative Director of LensCulture) and Paolo Woods (Artistic Director of Cortona On The Move).

About Cortona On The Move

The international photography festival Cortona On The Move has been held since 2011 in the Tuscan town of Cortona, in the province of Arezzo. A protagonist of photographic production at the international level, the festival is a point of reference for photographers, curators, authors, critics, as well as the public.

Now approaching its 14th edition, under the direction of Veronica Nicolardi, the artistic direction of Paolo Woods and and the photographic curatorship of Kublaiklan the festival makes documentary narrative the center of its interest and focuses on themes that are contemporary and socially relevant. At a time in history when photography provides the most universal means of narrating the world in which we live, the festival aims to make it accessible and understandable to the general public and makes it a driver of cultural
exchange and growth.
