C/O Berlin Talent Award 2025 – Theorist

One author will be selected for taking care of an interview with the winner in the category Artist, of writing an essay about their project, and a €3,000 cash prize.

You write about photography and you are interested in digital image cultures with a focus on old and new technologies of facial recognition? You would like to explore the topic from different historical and cultural contexts?

Practical Info

Applicants must be under 35 years old, must have experience in writing about photography and digital image cultures with a focus on old and new technologies of facial recognition, as well as an interest in exploring the topic from different historical and cultural contexts, and must have familiarity with the overall theme of the C/O Berlin Talent Award: New Documentary Strategies. Plus, if selected, they must have sufficient time to write the required texts until fall 2025, agree to the publication of their texts in the publication of the C/O Berlin Talent Award 2025, and willingness to have an artist talk with the winner during the exhibition period.

The selected author of the C/O Berlin Talent Award – Theory will receive an interview with the winner in the category Artist, will write an essay about the winner’s project, will get the publication of these texts in an individually designed publication on the exhibition, along with prize money of €3,000, international presence and networking.
