CAP Prize 2024

The Prize for Contemporary African Photography is awarded annually since 2012 to five photographers whose works were created on the African continent, or which engage with the African diaspora.

Overview

The competition is open to everyone of all levels and any age or descent. In the context of the CAP Prize, African photography is the one created on the African continent or photography engaging with a diaspora of an African country dating back not more than two generations.

Practical Info

Applications should contain between 10 and 25 images of a coherent series of work. Single images are not permitted.

A panel of international curators, publishers, editors, and artists will review the submissions. 25 artists will be shortlisted, and 5 shortlisted artists will be awarded the CAP Prize 2024, an exposure award that comprises a series of exhibitions in collaboration with international photography institutions and events. Additionally, the winners’ series are published in respected media around the globe, and a catalogue is published. The five selected are invited to attend at least one exhibition or event, with all expenses covered.
