Biennale della Fotografia Femminile 2024

The open call for the Off Circuit of the third edition of the Biennale della Fotografia Femminile is accepting photographic projects to exhibit throughout the opening period of the BFF, which will be held in Mantua, Italy.

Overview

The theme of the third edition of the BFF is Private, which has a double meaning in the Italian language, meaning private, i.e. non-public, issues and what instead concerns deprivation. Removal from the public sphere can have multiple implications: is it a saving subtraction or a prevarication? How is it possible to define what is public or private? What does it mean to be deprived? Starting from these reflections, the aim is to investigate individual and collective, virtual and real spaces through photography.

Practical Info

The call is open exclusively to all people aged 18 and over who identify as female or to collectives with at least 50% female members.

The projects must have a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 photos. All photographic genres are accepted. The images will be selected by the Biennale della Fotografia Femminile commission and will be exhibited in public locations in Mantova in an Off Circuit. The arrangement, dimensions and set up of the photographs will be defined by the commission. Costs are entirely covered by the BFF.

From the works chosen for the Off Circuit, three will receive a prize: this includes awards by Fotofabbrica, Lomography and a feature on a specialised publication. Submissions will close on October 15th 2023, at 23:59 GMT+1.
