Overview
Art Photo Bcn Portfolio Reviews aim at supporting the work of authors with already developed photographic projects or that are currently, conceptually and materially, developing them in order to help them find a way of spreading them, broadening their networks. Placing all the emphasis on the project that is presented, during the open call no preliminary paths will be taken into consideration, so to grant everyone aspiring to getting a portfolio review the same possibilities.
Art Photo Bcn portfolio reviews nourish the different sections of the festivals, being the selected authors the protagonists of different actions in the future editions. This is how the community that gives life to the continuous contents of the festival is created in the different associated sites and during the formative activities, both in the presential and online version of the festival. The 8 selected photographers will dispose of a Viewing Room space on the online platform in order to exhibit their projects during the online fair (with a chance of selling and of direct contact)and 200€ fee for the participation.
Practical Info
The open call for photographers is open to authors of all nationalities and ages, giving priority to quality of the project rather than their career. The registration must be completed before through the online form, including up to 10 images, a statement, and a PDF summary of the project with image and text.
In addition to the important feedback that will be provided by the review session, from this encounter a series of prizes will come off in the form of production, formation and exhibitions, thanks to the collaboration and support of different agents and institutions of the photographic circle. The Art Photo Bcn Prize will come with €2,000, the possibility of being the image of the next edition and the possibility of participating presentially in the next fair in 2026. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 24th May at 8 pm at Disseny Hub Barcelona.
The projects received will be evaluated by the selection committee consisting of Gonzalo Golpe, Moritz Neumüller, Arianna Rinaldo, Jesús Micó, Simona Rota and Isabel Lazaro.
The 8 selected projects will be announced on May 20th through the website and the festival social media. During the event, in a round-table format, all the reviewers will participate simultaneously in order to produce an enriching feedback in parallel with the commentaries and opinions that all their different outlooks will provide. Every author will dispose of 20 minutes in total to explain his/her project and to receive the commentaries of the reviewers in addition to answering their questions.
