Each issue is central to a specific theme and provides a gallery of inspiring imagery, focusing on each artist with their own experience to share. With an eye towards beauty, quality and novelty, they strive to promote portfolios that stand out for their unique visual signature style and character. Their goal is to help photographers get the exposure they deserve and to inspire others with ideas, projects and goals to help develop their own photography.

Encyclopedia Britannica defines Street photography has "a genre that records everyday life in a public place." Photographers have been documenting their environment since the invention of photography. The image View Of The Boulevard Du Temple by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre, shows a Parisian street in 1838. Later encouraged by improvements in the portability and quality of cameras many photographers decided to record urban life. Charles Nègre, Eugene Atget, Alfred Stieglitz, Andre Kertesz, Berenice Abbott, Henri Cartier Bresson, Brassaï, Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Diane Arbus, Vivian Maier, Garry Winogrand, Lee Friedlander, William Eggleston... are amongst the many iconic photographers who captured changes in the fast-paced world of life in towns and cities.

Capturing the essence of the urban lifestyle is now both a popular form of art and an important medium of communicating the heart and soul of a society and its people.

AAP Magazine is looking for the best photographs capturing the weird and wonderful moments unfolding around you. There are no limitations regarding the subject. Any capture method or process, whether digital or analog, including monochromatic toning, is welcome.

The award is open to professional and amateur photographers from all over the world who are invited to send up to 40 images.

1st place winner will receive a cash prize of $500 and will have a full portfolio published in AAP Magazine Volume 52: Street; 2nd place winner will receive a cash prize of $300; and 3rd place winner will receive a cash prize of $200. The next seventeen winners (ranked from 4 to 20) will have their best image(s) or portfolio featured in AAP Magazine Volume 52: Street.
