The award supports documentary photography and photojournalism as a means to raise awareness amongst the public concerning social issues, while also promoting citizen mobilization.
Overview
Médicos del Mundo Spain announces the 27th Luis Valtueña International Humanitarian Photography Award, aimed at recognizing and disseminating the best images that singularly demonstrate social inequities, injustices and / or human rights abuses, or the situations that either foster or fight them.
Practical Info
People 18 years or older amateur and professional photographers of any nationality who are familiar with the documentary and / or photojournalistic approach can apply. The submitted images must narrate a story related to one of these topics: health, natural disasters, humanitarian action, international cooperation, social exclusion, violation of human rights, armed conflicts, vulnerable groups, refugee and/or migrant populations. The series should present between 5 and 10 photographs where at least 50% of the images must have been made between 2022 and 2023.
In addition to the cash prize of 6.000€, the winner and the finalists will also have their work published in the catalog and displayed in the collective and itinerant exhibition that Médicos del Mundo Spain shall produce.
