I am a photographer based in London currently working on research-based, self-led projects as well as teaching on the BA Photography course at Middlesex University. In 2017 I completed my MA degree and in September 2021 I will begin a practice-based PhD at London College of Communication on the subject of political polarisation and online disinformation. In addition to my art practice and teaching, I run an online platform for contemporary photography called 46 Space which publishes virtual exhibitions, interviews and open calls.
My work centres around shared narratives and ideologies. Using photography as a tool to isolate and disrupt symbols of power and culture, my intention is to reveal how the apparently ordinary can be symptoms of larger social constructs. I view my practice as an exercise in problem solving; through developing visual solutions to communicate abstract phenomena my work offers viewers a way in to considering the development and consequences of prevalent but difficult to define concepts.
Since 2013 I have had exhibitions in the UK and overseas, and have won and been shortlisted for multiple awards. I have also had the pleasure of teaching both at universities and through self-led initiatives as well as speaking publicly about my work, most notably at Paris Photo 2017. I believe photography is an excellent tool for provoking in-depth thought and discussion on difficult topics. My long-term project is to continue this open discourse.
