Why do we choose to stay together — in friendship, in love, in any meaningful connection? Because we all need a witness to our lives. To promise presence in a relationship is to say: your life will not go unseen, because I will have seen it.

Why do we choose to stay together — in friendship, in love, in any meaningful connection?

Because we all need a witness to our lives. To promise presence in a relationship is to say: your life will not go unseen, because I will have seen it. Your story will not be without witness, because I will be your witness.

This project is born from that idea. It is a testimony to the concept of “us” — a visual and emotional record of the people who become part of a shared path. In an age that often diminishes emotion and glorifies the fleeting, this work stands as an homage to friendship, to enduring presence, and to memory.

Some of the people in these photographs are still part of my life. Others, as often happens, have taken different paths. Through this body of work, I sought to reconnect with each of them — creating a chronological narrative that begins with those who were there from the very start, moves through those who are here now, and reaches toward those who may be part of what comes next.

Each image is tied to a personal memory, a metaphor for our shared journey. These are not just portraits — they are fragments of time, pieces of connection, and markers of mutual presence. The body becomes a central element in this series, a vessel of memory and a symbol of what it means to truly be there for another. Presence, after all, is embodied: to be present is to give a part of oneself, to offer something that can be remembered.

This work is, above all, a celebration of what remains when everything else fades — the imprint we leave on each other.
