This series was inspired by an approach to healing in regards to my client exploring her journey of trauma invoked by ideologies imposed by extreme religion.

We are molded at a young age to adhere to principles of life; socially, culturally, economically etc. These principles however can easily be manipulated by others in order to remain in power and to put others in a state of fear. In regards to a religious standpoint these "white walls" represent the facade of pureness and in reality an isolation from ourselves and loved ones. Under layers of white paint we are blemished, imperfect, and boxed in by fear of persecution. It can hold and shame us until we decide that we are more than what we are told to be. The butterflies depict self transformation as we break away from cycles of abuse to embrace who we are and walk our own path.
