Urmia like white

Iran has faced many environmental crises in recent years; on the one hand, drought and natural disasters, and on the other hand, the creation of structures that cause great damage to the environment. Lake Urmia is one of the largest salt lakes in the world, which is located in the west of Iran. In recent years, due to drought and the construction of numerous dams, a large part of the lake has dried up and there is a possibility that all of it will dry up.

The people and natives of Azerbaijan province, who are mostly engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, are highly dependent on this lake. Apart from this, tourism, which used to be one of the most important sources of income for many natives, has almost completely disappeared.

Lake Urmia is very important for the cities of northwestern Iran. The humidity in this lake causes mild weather and also creates a lot of groundwater in different places. Due to the drying up of a large part of this lake, many freshwater wells have dried up, which has caused a lot of damage to the environment of this area. Wetlands and small lakes near Lake Urmia have been home of many animals and birds. As the lake shrinks, these animals have either died or migrated elsewhere. On the other hand, due to complete drying of this lake, the temperate air turns into tropical air with salty winds, which causes the complete destruction of agriculture and the loss of fodder for livestock. This has led to the migration of more than 13 million people.
