A haunting reminder of our impact on the environment, and what will come after we are gone
Pitcher, Oklahoma, was once home to a small community in the rural areas of the midwestern United States. After going broke, the government sent aid to help mine for lead in the area to bring balance back to local economies. Unfortunately, not too long after the aid was sent, lead began seeping into the water supply, killing and injuring most of the residents. The impact did not stop there, eventually the air also became toxic and the remaining residents relocated and the town of Pitcher was left to remind us of the devastation we bring upon ourselves and the land we inhibit.
