A mission trip to Guinea showed a powerful blend of faith and culture. I focused on capturing the emotion of each moment. This ongoing project explores how diverse communities express and live their faith.
This project documents a mission trip to Guinea, where local pastors teamed up with a mission organization to bring hope and healing to the community. They shared messages of faith through dance, preaching, and prayer. The outreach included visiting homes during the day and hosting large gatherings each night in a local soccer field.
What I saw was a powerful mix of faith and culture. People expressed their beliefs through movement, music, and shared moments. The emotion and intensity of worship and prayer made me want to capture more than just what was happening. I wanted each frame to reflect the experience of each moment.
This photography project explores the place where faith and culture intersect. I focused less on perfect technique and more on creating images that carry the feeling of each moment. These photos reflect the lived experience of what I witnessed, raw and full of life.
What began as a single assignment has become an ongoing exploration of diverse faith communities. Alongside continued visits to Africa, I plan to spend time in churches across Denver, engaging with different cultures, denominations, and ethnic groups. My goal is to show the many ways people express their beliefs, create meaningful spaces, and connect with God, highlighting both what they share in faith and the unique qualities that shape each community.
