It is a color that holds metaphors of gestation, origin, and birth, and which, in the feminine imagination, evokes the liquid realm where all life begins.

“When the Dream Meets Blue” stems from Dib’s fascination with a color whose history begins with its absence. The project revisits the idea that many ancient civilizations did not perceive blue as a distinct color—not because they lacked poetry, but because the visible world only acquired a name when anchored in the concrete: the red of blood, the green of vegetation, the absolute black of night.

Sky and sea, however, were different realms. Too ethereal for language, too vast and mutable to be grasped by a single word. For centuries, blue remained an undefined phenomenon—a silent presence that, here, finds definition.
