This project is about a game between perception and reality that takes place in a remote polish village. Premonitions, culture and pop culture, primary instincts are mixed together and like in a game of irony fill your soul with curiosity and fear.

"Welcome to the Polish Countryside" takes place in a location so remote that it feels like nowhere. Sparsely populated by people whose roots intertwine across generations, this area, with its old houses, empty fields, silent forests, and stray animals, evokes a world far removed from the fast-paced urban life.

Through two distinct perspectives, that of an adult and a child, the project reveals a layered narrative. From an adult's viewpoint, this place offers serenity, freedom, and a return to nature and personal roots. It’s a setting where solitude is cherished not as loneliness, but as the comfort of being with oneself in silence. Here, time slows down, and the distance from society’s hustle allows for a deeper connection with the land, heritage, and inner self.

Through the eyes of a child, this place is not just peaceful but also mysterious, filled with primal fears and the unknown. Children’s stories, pop culture, and familial legends inspire a sense of awe, revealing the power of nature to evoke both fascination and fear, always feeding imagination and curiosity while allowing for a focus on the details of the world.

The project plays with the viewer’s perception of reality, the experience of being a stranger in a familiar yet unfamiliar place, and the mind’s tendency to filter reality through its own preconceptions and narratives, blurring the line between documentary and surrealism. It creates a never-ending game between what is real and what is shaped by the mind’s filters.

Ultimately, "Welcome to the Polish Countryside" is not just a photographic series but an ongoing reflection on key themes in my work: freedom, perception, isolation, and the enigmatic power of empty spaces. It explores the duality of being alone, both as a liberating experience and a journey into the unknown, inviting the viewer to navigate this in-between space where reality and imagination, familiarity and strangeness, coexist.
