Visions

«Visions» is a project which has emerged as a result of a long contemplation of how the light affects a photo emulsion, almost without my participation.

The series creation started during the period, when I was shooting on an expired film. While winding the film by hand, I began to notice that the first images were “overexposed” in an special way. Whereby the light-sensitive material becomes like a conductor to the transcendent - sort of a door or a window through which light transmits its visual messages. Such an involuntary process enables the appearance of abstract spaces that would otherwise remain hidden. The emulsion, which has absorbed a small amount of light and passed through the chemical stages of development, is transformed by printing into a visible material.

This work is supposed to abandon the traditional way of creating a shot in favor of a free will by chance. Color, being the primary element here, carries a lot of both - subjective and cultural - historical meanings. It is also a part of the research of how our brain brings the image that we see to life, allowing feelings and emotions to be expressed.
