A Canadians first time in Canada

A series of photos from my recent travels to Canada and America. These images try to capture the beautiful variety and vulnerability of people and landscapes, all which feel so familiar but very outlandish all in the same instance.

Caitlyn Anderson was born and raised in Singapore and has Family ties to Canada, but has been residing in Perth, Australia for the last 13 years. Photography has been a passion of hers for many years, film being the medium of choice for her work. Although majority of her work has been hobby and freelanced based she is working at hopefully transitioning into making photography more of a full time pursuit.

Street photography and documentary photography is something that she has had interest in since a very young age, and as she has gotten older travel has now been incorporated in with her love for photography. Travelling and documenting life around her has become a passion and motivation for Caitlyn taking her images. Major inspirations to her include Francesca Woodman, Diane Arbus and Vivian Maier, all women who made photos with no intent, only the passion for the art form and surrounding life itself.

Using High saturation along with people being the main focus in her images, Caitlyn tries to imitate life as she sees it through her own eyes. Creating images that capture moments of beauty or that show case people at the most genuine or most vulnerable means a great deal and allows the excitement and joy of taking photos to continue. Using the media of film has been something Caitlyn has been passionate about, it allows her to put trust into things that can sometimes be out of ones control and is able to stay present in the moment while doing something that she loves.
