What are you willing to do to get a like?

Taking as a starting point the videos of people unpacking new guns on Youtube, this project explores the production of images from the community of gun enthusiasts on the platform, through screenshots, puzzles, videos and gifs.

UNBOXING delves into compulsive consumption and the ecstasy of the new. At the same time, it examines the exploitation of privacy and domestic spaces, the overflowing paranoia focused on security, as well as the construction of the characters' virtual identity through guns.

Europe has strict gun regulations, but is very loose when it comes to pro-violence content consumed on the Internet. Are limits on content creation important or does everything have to be allowed online?

UNBOXING is a journey through the algorithm, on a platform where repetition of trends, theatricality, and excess has its rewards.
