130-page A4-sized book, dummy printed on Mistral Felt 170gsm textured paper, coptic-bind

To Integrate a Derivative is a photobook which explores how a relationship can be measured. A derivative captures a fleeting change — a gesture, an interaction — while integration sums up these exchanges into something whole. This work seeks to quantify the artist’s connections within her family: the people she was born into and those she is still trying to understand. After observing the formation, transformation and quiet unravelling of relationships over the years, these images captured reflect an attempt to hold onto something fleeting, before it slips away.

It is a 130-page A4-sized book with coptic binding that is printed largely in halftone. This reprographic method of reducing the photographs taken to binary dot formations is intended to present my relationship with the subjects captured as units for measurement.
