The Veil

For the past three years I have been working on a documentary project looking at my family and their place in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These are quiet meditations on life and death throughout this larger work.

My project, titled “Come, Come Ye Saints”, has comprised of dense academic research and countless hours of travel and meeting with and photographing family. Throughout the duration of this project I’ve had many hours on the road to think to myself and captured thousands of frames of in between moments. These little gestures, portraits, and scenes have become a meditation of sorts, a reflection of my own thoughts on life and death in the face of making work about religion and family. This is less an explicit, coherent, project and more a series of feelings, presenting my existential thoughts back at me.
