The series ‘The Stranger I Am’ explores alienation, disintegration and shifting identities. The images are born from a lifelong feeling of alienation, intensified by a move abroad. I felt I lived in a very different society, while my own world had simultaneously shrunk to the kitchen. That is why my practice unfolds primarily in the domestic space, approached as a microcosmos where intimate tensions meet broader human concerns, and as a psychological landscape that echoes an underlying state of mind. The body is central to my work, not only allowing me to approach themes such as selfperception and the gaze of others, but also as a space of memory, where the sediments of earlier experiences have settled and continue to leave their imprint today. The domestic environment is also a space of introspection where we reflect on all the what-ifs and regrets, the people we did not become, the paths we did not choose. In this way, it becomes a stage for addressing issues that concern me personally but are also shared and deeply human, a way of facing that elusive other within us all.
