The Silence of My In-Between - Lita Akhmetova

"The Silence of My In-Between" is a photographic project exploring inner silence through archetypes. Each participant embodies a mythological or imagined character, reflecting her personal meditation, self-discovery, and creative expression.

“The Silence of My In-Between” is a photographic project combining portraiture, meditative practice, and archetypal exploration.

Participants embark on a personal journey into their own inner silence. Before each photoshoot, they immerse themselves in stillness, listening, and self-reflection — a process resembling meditation and a meeting with an old friend: themselves.

Each participant chooses an archetype through which to explore her silence. This can be a figure from Ukrainian, Greek, or Norse mythology, or a character of her own invention from her personal “in-between world.” Photography becomes not only a visual portrait but also a testimony of an internal journey.

After the photoshoot, each participant writes a reflective text about her experience of silence. These personal narratives form a collective diary in which silence takes on both individual and universal dimensions.

The project is ongoing and will continue to grow, including new participants and a series of visual-literary stories combining photography and text. The next step is to present the work in exhibitions in Ukraine and internationally, where the photographs will be displayed alongside participants’ texts.

“The Silence of My In-Between” aims to show that silence is not absence, but a source of strength. It is not about loudness, but about the power that emerges from within.
