The Gift

The Gift is about encounters and their effect and presence in our life.

My series, The Gift (2016) followed my introduction to Miriam. I first met Miriam in California in 2015. She was an elderly woman, slowly fading, who had been very passionate in photography especially around nature and while traveling. As she could not use her beloved camera any longer, she decided to give it to me on Thanksgiving Day. The Gift, shot with Miriam’s camera, is about encounters and their effect and presence in our life. It is a search of the allusive and intangible interspace where history, memory and lives cross paths. The photographs were taken during a series of exploration in the desert sites of California Miriam held dear.
