The Forgotten War

While the world watched silently as a genocide was live-streamed, a shadow has been cast in the West Bank, where a surge of unprecedented violence has been taking place. The project documents the rise of violence in the Palestinian territory over years.

While the world watches silently as a genocide is live-streamed, a shadow has been cast in the West Bank, where a surge of unprecedented violence has been taking place. Since Oct 7th, I’ve lived with vulnerable Palestinian families, attacked by settler extremists, threatening their lives and homes. Families standing on piles of rubble of their former homes from demolitions by the Israeli Civil Administration are a more common sight in the landscape. Displacement from Israeli Defense Force (IDF) looking for militants continue to rise, while more civilians are killed in the process. With record numbers of settler violence, demolitions, and military operations: The West Bank is in crisis.

Palestinian displacement is currently highest, over 40,000, in the West Bank since the Arab-Israeli War of 1967. Last year, the occupied territory saw the largest seizure of land since nearly 30 years. While the situation in Gaza becomes more severe, and coverage is vital, the West Bank is often under-reported and overlooked. While international access for journalist is completely blocked in the Gaza strip, there are still opportunities to tell stories of the other territory of Palestine – while it still exists today.

Since November of 2023, I’ve spent years making images about the new reality of the West Bank. From families displaced with no shelter, funerals of innocent civilians killed in Hebron, and IDF raids in Jenin refugee camp, I’ve witness the rapid escalation in the occupied territory in a short time. The following images depict the forgotten war in the West Bank, and is a brief insight at what's a stake for the Palestinian territory.
