“The Farm” looks at the daily life of G. and E., the youngest of the 5 Farina siblings, a family of farmers living in the Italian countryside.

Even though 75% of the land in Italy can be defined as rural, only a quarter of the population lives there. With the divide between the city and the countryside meant to increase over the next decades, this project explores what might get lost in the process.

Without the constant stimuli of the urban context, Giulio and Elena rely on each other and their inventiveness against boredom. In their youth, their already privileged contact with the land and the animals is enlivened by their intense energy and playfulness, free from the merely productive approach to nature of the adults.

With the older siblings gone, in search for a more cosmopolitan and seemingly less taxing life, Giulio and Elena are the future of the family farm and, in a way, of the small town they live in.
