The Cuban method

Since its creation in 1931 (then Pro Art Society), Fernando Alonso National Ballet School is one of the largest and most important professional training institutions in the world of dance.In 1959 and after the triumph of the Revolution the same loses the private character and begins to form part of the National School of Art. With this new stage of boom and great political / economic support is where the bases of the Cuban training of ballet that the Alonso; Alberto, Fernando and Alicia had been growing privately. At that time and with Fernando at the head of the institution, the principles of the Russian, American and French schools were taken to develop an own pedagogical style recognized throughout the world. Today, the school’s headquarters are full-time, merging initial, primary and secondary education with ballet classes and repertoire, forming dancers and teachers as well as high school graduates with the necessary tools to opt for other careers. Equality as a flag, mutual respect, discipline and work are commonplace in the day-to-day life of this emblematic building in Havana.
