Tell My Love Now

Tell My Love Now is a photographic exploration blending personal healing and collective emotion. It documents the daily lives of my Russian friends alongside an intimate journey of love and recovery from clinical depression at home, in Denmark.

Tell My Love Now is a deeply personal and collective narrative that intertwines two profound journeys. Over four months in 2015-2016 I traveled through Russia—spending two months in Moscow and two months on trains, stopping in villages, immersing myself in the daily lives and intimate moments of the people I met. At that time, Russia was a place of complexity and contrast, but not yet affected by the war. At the same time, I was heartbroken for Jacob, who would later become my husband.

As I began editing the material from this journey, Jacob fell into clinical depression, presenting me with a new journey—one of understanding mental illness and the weight of love during difficult times.

Through short stories, diary entries, and the rawness of a typewriter’s uncorrectable mistakes, I documented Jacob’s struggle. This project is a testament to love, freedom, pain, and healing—reflecting the complexity of both journeys. Both the journey through Russia and the experience of depression share harshness, but in the end, they reveal the power of intimacy, connection, and ultimately, love, to overcome.
