SONGS OF THE SKY
With the birth of language came the weaving of categories, the architecture of logic, philosophy, and the so-called ‘higher forms’ of intellect. Within these constructs, we took shelter—travellers in ordered thought, submerging ourselves as a species. And yet, here we dwell, fractured and distant, estranged from our dancing bodies, our moving bodies, our earth-bodies. The mind-body question has become an earth-heaven lament. Is God here, in the soil and the roots, or up there, distant as the stars?
Amid the symphony of nature’s interconnectedness, we ache with the quiet sting of our own disconnection. This project is a call to remember, to breathe deeply into the memory of a new earth system—not one newly created, but rediscovered, like an ancient melody waiting in the wind.
Imagination allows us to ask questions: Who are we? How are we connected? What can we learn from the Earth’s harmony and resilience? By contemplating these questions deeply, we unlock the potential to visualise new ways of living in balance. This inquiry also invites us to reconnect with our inner child, the part of us that senses the world with wonder and openness. Imagination helps us reflect on the patterns of nature—from the interdependence of ecosystems to the cycles of growth and renewal—and consider how these principles might guide us in building stronger, more unified communities.
When we mimic nature’s principles—cooperation, adaptability, and regeneration—we lay the foundation for a society that values connection over division, collaboration over competition. Imagination becomes the bridge, helping us to envision and internalise these ideas.
Earth came first, we came second; Earth is the primary reality, we are derivative. We are aspects of Earth. In us, Earth lives, breathes, thinks, moves, loves, and has its being.
